What is Path to Hanafi Fiqh (PTHF)?

Returning for its third year, Path to Hanafi Fiqh is a three-day intensive in the Hanafi tradition, led by Shaykh Tabraze Azam. This year’s programme moves from a single main text to a selection of five short classical works covering law, theology and ethics.

At this year’s intensive, taking place December 18th–20th, 2026, Shaykh Tabraze reads, translates, and explains the Arabic, offering detailed commentary in English. Open to both returning and new attendees, this year’s sessions will provide clarity, depth, and spiritual enrichment through focused study and interactive discussion.

Participants will receive a printed copy of the text along with meals and refreshments.

Course Texts:

• Risāla fī Aḥkām al-Zawāj
  A Treatise on the Legal Rulings Governing Marriage

• Al-Aqwāl al-Muʿriba ʿan Aḥwāl al-Ashriba
  Statements Elucidating the Nature of Beverages

• Risāla fī Bayān al-Raqṣ wa al-Dawarān
  A Treatise Explaining Dancing and Whirling

• ʿArf al-Nadd wa al-ʿAnbar fī Jawāz al-Iqtidāʾ bi al-Imām Khalf al-Minbar
  The Fragrance of Musk and Ambergris Concerning the Permissibility of Following the Imam from Behind the Pulpit

• Imam Abū Ḥanīfa’s Waṣiyya to ʿAbdullāh b. al-Mubārak

All of the texts are in Arabic. However, Shaykh will translate and comment on the material in English. The goal will be to complete all of the texts inshAllah.

• Saturday & Sunday Dec. 19th & 20th 2026 (9 am - 9 pm)

Prerequisites:

• Everyone is welcome; however, some previous study of fiqh and basic Arabic skills are recommended.

Costs:

• Regular pricing: $150 +tax

• Student pricing (college & university students): $125 +tax

• Your registration includes all three days of sessions, the course text, refreshments, and, on Saturday and Sunday, lunch and dinner.
